An artists bookwork, fiftytwoSundays is a list of fibs, half-truths and stories, printed on pink paper. Some are from the artists own notes and diaries, others borrowed, some fictional, others true. Each story is paired with discarded photographs and images like a series of short scripts. Named after an ongoing conversation with his mother who believes that Sunday is the first day of the week, whereas Shapland`s begins on Monday, Sundays, then, are both beginnings and ends. The stories switch from He to I and You, a reminder that the artist, like all of us, performs all of these constantly shifting and fluid roles.
