Biog ///////// Anthony Shapland is a Welsh writer and artist. He is the founder of g39, Cardiff, where he currently works. His debut novel, A Room Above a Shop is published by Granta and is Wales Book of the Year 2026. His fiction Sometimes We Speak featured in the inaugural Folding Rock issue. He has written for Radio4 Short Works and Gutter magazine and is included in the anthologies (un)common (Lucent Dreaming) Cymru & I (Seren), Cree and A Dictionary of Light (Parthian). He continues to work as an artist with solo exhibitions Liar,Liar at Aberystwyth Art Centre in April 2025 and MURMUR at Tŷ Pawb, 2026. He is currently working on his second novel with Granta and the screenplay of his debut.
